We are excited to invite you to the Reba Place Church Saturday 10/28 at 7pm for a benefit show for Chicago Area Peace Action. This evening of music will feature some amazing local acts from Chicago including our very own organizer Hassan El-Tayyab, Andrea Bunch, and Monica Laytham. There will also be a silent auction. If you'd like to donate a gift item to the auction let us know by replying to this email. All the funds go to help advance CAPA's grassroots organizing and direct lobbying efforts to fight nuclear war, the military industrial complex, and climate change. In addition to the music, there will be some speakers from CAPA who will update you on our fight for a more peaceful world along with some concrete actions you can take to make a real difference. About the musicians:

Hassan El-Tayyab was honored as a finalist in the 2017 Telluride Troubadour Song Competition, for best vocal performance in the 2013 Berkeley Old Time Music Competition, as a finalist in the 2011 International songwriting competition, and was recognized in the 2013 and 2011 Rocky Mountain Folk Festival Songwriter Competition. Rooted in Americana and folk/swing traditions, his carefully crafted original music maintains a modern relevance. Smart songwriting, catchy lyrics, tight rhythms, rich harmonies, and strong musicianship have already earned Hassan a reputation as a musician that can intrigue listeners from a wide variety of musical tastes and backgrounds. Keeping in line with the ancient troubadour tradition, his music draws from the spirit of travel and authentic life experience.

Monica Laytham is a talented and folksy pianist/singer with a deep connection to Reba Place Church and a heart for social justice. She toured the country two years ago with her music, spending several weeks at Standing Rock, deep in the mountains of El Salvador, and other far away places, generally being honest, kind and delightfully creative as she connects with people. She's also a badass frisbee player.

Andrea Bunch is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who performs solo and with projects including Congress of Starlings and the Heart tribute band, Little Queens. She has played at world famous venues like Milwaukee’s Summerfest, Halsted Market Days, Taste of Chicago and more. Andrea was awarded the prestigious Three Arts Excellence in Art grant to attend the Ragdale Artist’s retreat, and has composed music for films, including the award winning documentary, Brink of Survival. Andrea also teaches many classes at the Old Town School of Folk Music, including the Voice of the People jam, a celebration of politically and socially driven music.
